Summer Days

Here it is 2:00 and the mercury says 102 degrees... We definitely were not expecting the dog days of summer on the first days of summer! We are running out of inside summer time activities to pursue... It's not like in the winter that we want to go bake up that batch of cookies to give us something to do and in the process help heat up the house...

Maybe we should make some ice cream...

Meanwhile the kids swim lessons are winding down. After being dropped off the diving board last Wednesday, Garett has not really been keen about going back to lessons. We had to have the whole "just say no if you don't want to" discussion. But then today he worked up some courage and not only went off the board once, but (shocker!) twice!!! So far Emalee has been enjoying her lessons, but we'll see how she feels after it's her turn to be dropped off the board later in the week! (By the way, thanks for the swim suit Granna, doesn't she look cute?!)

In the heat of the day, usually Emalee takes her nap and Garett builds with Legos... here are some pictures of his creations... On the left is his hotel with a walkway between two buildings and a parking garage underneath the one. (Ask us sometime what our hotel in Kansas City was like... we'll give you three guesses!) And the picture on the right is his car that carries 4 people and pulls his flatbed trailer which can load a tractor using it's tailgate ramp... The tractor is the only thing he used instructions for... the rest is all his creation!
